Welcome to Colorado!!!! I climbed the highest point in the state, Mount Elbert, in the summer of 2013. It was a very exciting experience for a few reasons: it was the first time I had ever climbed above 14,000 feet, it was the first time I had climbed in the Rockies, AND we got run off the peak by a lightening & hail storm!

Only 10 weeks into my highpointing adventure we took on the beast that is Mt Elbert (#14/50). This peak is located in the Rocky Mountains just west of the town of Leadville. We opted to take the less traveled Black Cloud Trail (and didn’t see a single person on the whole trail!).
